Thursday, June 26, 2008

Yesterday was my birthday and we did something very meaningful...

We went to book Conrad for our solemnisation...

It was quite candid because we actually drew up a list of 20++ ques to ask our coordinator, Jeannie. Got our doubts all cleared and haggled a lil before confirming on the booking, lol... We didn't get a discount or anything great, but our menu is fantastic!! I have to say that the service standard of both Jeannie and the rest of the hotel staff is really impressive, though the price is as well la!! Lol...

He's So Sweet!!

He said:

"Babe, I'm only scared you don't like the venue and set up cos if that's the case, how cheap also not its worth it. I'm just trying to let you have a most magical and memorable solemnisation I can afford babe."

He's soooooooooo sweet...

And we have more or less decided on our solemnisation venue. The most expensive one.

Sheraton Hotel Solemnisation Venue

We went over to Sheraton Hotel today, a venue that I was looking forward to see. We didn't managed to catch any solemnisation events, but I am quite skewed towards their venue due to their extremely beautiful waterfall...

Sheraton Solemnisation Waterfall
Its lovely. See the 2 waterfalls? The smaller one is right beside the solemnisation pavilion.

Sheraton Solemnisation Waterfall2
A close up. It feels so green right? I kindda love it, but hubby feels that it reminds him of his army days... Lol...

Bridge Leading to Solemnisation Area
There's a bridge leading to the solemnisation pavilion as well. It will be decorated with rose petals during the solemnisation ceremony.

Waterfall Pavilion
Haha... Hubby is posing at the Solemnisation Pavilion. Its a small area so we are quite concern that there won't be enough space for our guest to hang around during the reception.

Position of Solemnisation Table
The solemnisation table will be set up here!! Right beside the waterfall...

Sheraton Lobby
The feel and atmosphere at the hotel lobby is really very romantic too...

Sheraton Lobby2
Here's another lovely lobby view...

Solemnisation Diamond Room
The solemnisation lunch will be held here, in the Diamond room. Its really nothing special, but the whole area will be left for our celebration.

Sheraton Registration Table
The reception table outside Diamond room, lol... I hope this will look pretty after the decos...

Sheraton Poolside
Sheraton poolside, very common... But has nothing to do with the solemnisation la...

The Dining Room
The Dining Room. This is the ideal venue that I will want for my solemnisation but they do not allow any private events here... I am still trying my best to try to secure this location minimally for the buffet lunch or tea after the ceremony.

Initially I was a lil upset just arranging the appointment with the sales and catering department. There were some restrictions here and there and eventually the person in charge came a lil late, so we kindda started out on the wrong foot.

But anyway, she started showing us around the place and I got captivated by the waterfall both in the lounge and outdoor. So much till the extend that I didn't even realise hubby's concerns about the place. 1) That the pond beside the waterfall kindda stinks a lil and do look a lil dirty *hopefully its due to the rain* 2) What is our contingency plan if it rains... So, we feel quite undecided again...

Solemnisation Package (Buffet):
High Tea - $45++/ pax, min 40 pax
Lunch - $55++/ pax, min 40 pax
Dinner - $75++/ pax, min 50 pax

Solemnisation Package (Chinese 7-course from Li Bai Restaurant):
Lunch - $680++ per table of 10 pax, min 2 tables
Dinner - $800++ per table of 10 pax, min 2 tables

Amara and Conrad's Solemnisation Venue

Today is a fruitful solemnisation sourcing day. We made our way to Amara Hotel during lunch and then to Conrad Hotel after work... So here's all the pics!! Let's start with Amara first.

Amara Registration Table - Close Up
The deco on the registration table is quite sweet but also a lil too simple

Amara Solemnisation Pavilion1
Here's the solemnisation pavilion. It is surrounded by a small water feature with koys in it. Its lovely but the deco is too simple

Amara Pavilion Pillar
Here's the floral deco on the Pavilion pillar

Amara Solemnisation Table
I am so surprised that the deco of the solemnisation table is so overly simple

Amara Dinner Table - Close Up
Here's the dinner table. The centrepiece is only 2 stalk of roses on a plate!!! OMG...

Amara Dinner Table
The overall design of the dining area is shown here and its really nothing much. You can see the view from this pic and couples must be mindful that the hotel is actually facing HDB flats.

Amara Poolside
The poolside is very nice though. Quite romantic I must say...

Okie, lets look at the overall review of Amara Hotel. Me and hubby were snapping the pics at about 12.30 pm, the sun should reach the solemnisation area at bout 2 pm, something for couples considering for high tea to note. It was humid and we started sweating a lil.

The venue looks great apart from the fact that it is non-airconditioned, but the deco included in the package really sucks. It was far too simple... I must admit that I'm quite disappointed with the deco, but Amara still remains as an option for us due to its competitive price and also because of its location. Its across the road of the POSB branch where we first met!!

Do view their solemnisation package details in my links above...

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Okie, lets get to Conrad... Its LOVELY!!

Conrad Lobby
The lobby is very grand!! Btw, hubby said Conrad is a 6 star hotel

Conrad Registration Table
Sorry that my picture do not do justice to the registration table, but its really nice in actual

Conrad Registration Table Deco
There's this "pot" filled with water and rose petals beside the registration table. Maybe its for fengshui?

Conrad Salon by the Pool Design
So here's the well-known Salon by the Pool. Its air-conditioned and cosy, but yet its so close to the pool and still gives you the outdoor feel

Salon by the Pool View
The view is great and the natural lighting is very refreshing as well

Conrad Solemnisation Table
The solemnisation table is located at the front of the function room. There's a backdoor for couples to do a surprise march in if you want to

Conrad VIP Table2
Its actually all up to the couple to decide whether they will wanna use round tables or long tables as shown below

Conrad Long Table
This couple chose to have both...

Salon by the Pool Buffet Area
Here's the buffet area, the spread of food really looks super yummy!!!

Salon by the Pool Deco
There's also these lil decos lining the side of the room, how pretty...

Both of us really love what we see at Conrad. Its somewhere indoor, very cosy but yet has the outdoor feel. The entire atmosphere was great and I like it that couples have a say in the layout, the colour scheme and the flowers used for their solemnisation.

Its a lil out of our budget so we are still procrastinating... The package details have not been e-mailed to me, I'll put it up soon...

We'll be heading to Sheraton Towers and Goodwood Park Hotel soon... So we're still keeping our options open... Will be updating soon!!!
